Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I've been following this thread for a while and just thought I would provide some info as to where I am. Applied in Turku Aug 1, 2023, visited service center Aug 3, just entered second stage yesterday and my queue position right now is 5413.
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Just wanna share my exp. Came here first in 2015 as an international student, home country not in the list. Applied for citizenship first in 2022 but got rejected in 2023 Feb due to 2 times of interruption of residence time, so the time of residence has to be counted all over again from 2019. Reapplied in august 2023, got citizenship decision in January 2024 at 54xx. Student loan 6k remaining, been working with permanent contract since 2020, and same year I got A permit for working. Started study leave since 2022, but permanent contract are kept untill the end of 2024. Income since study leave is mostly from partime job and Kela support. No more extra requirement from Migri to get citizenship granted.

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Your application seems to be in the "faster" queue. I applied in Turku (Raisio) in August 2022 and am still in Stage 1 (queue 24xx). Fingers crossed!GeistDesFritz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 12:13 pmI've been following this thread for a while and just thought I would provide some info as to where I am. Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I thought the sweet spot is among the 4000-ish range?

Thus is just means that 4000-ish guy is on leave and will be back soonanother_one wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:11 pmIt seems to be moving.
Assuming that two last people who got their citizenships in this thread were in 54XX and applied in the beginning of August 20233, this seems to be the new sweet spot.
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I thought the "sweet spot" was where in the queue the easy applications are picked off and citizenship awarded. Below the sweet spot the people are like mud at the bottom of a lake, taking a long time to be processed for various reasons. The queue number tells you how far you are from the very bottom of the lake, but most people will get citizenship when they reach the layer of mud, not having to wait to get to the very bottom. If the difficult applications are not processed as quick as they arrive then the layer of mud at the bottom builds up and the "sweet spot" rises. Thus is just means that 4000-ish guy is on leave and will be back soon

It seems, we might have to wait long… 493X.riku2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 1:17 pmI thought the "sweet spot" was where in the queue the easy applications are picked off and citizenship awarded. I guess next range, where I might get the decision is 1500-2000.
Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I know people who got citizenship in 4 months, in 5, in 6, in 10, in 12 etc... It might come any time. The issue that we really don't know how queue system works. But I heard that when you visit migri, your case is assigned randomly to a queue for which migri officer is responsible. That officer might be not the fastest in processing or on leave etc.Guess.who wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 1:58 pmIt seems, we might have to wait long… 493X.riku2 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 1:17 pmI thought the "sweet spot" was where in the queue the easy applications are picked off and citizenship awarded. Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
They pick up right now in that range but all can be different next week. The queue is partitoned to sub-queues. As for other changes we all know possible law changes and when they might comejust_passing_by wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:23 pmWhile time goes by there are all kind of changes in the applications queue: number of applications, processing times, some other factors which we don't know.TUserFin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 2:49 pmI know people who got citizenship in 4 months, in 5, in 6, in 10, in 12 etc... However, according to my data all applications seem to be in the same queue. At least they have somewhat sequential queue numbers and diary numbers.
Though Migri mostly picks applications which have diary numbers 92XX-94XX/310/2023 (about 80% of all processed applications are within that range), they also pick applications from some random places in the queue. So there is always a chance to be picked.
It is what it is at the moment. Maybe the situation will change in the near future.
