@ Ellen Ripley

HI. for sure there is a way to come to finland. Only thing is to choose the right way according to your situation. Many people will say you that there is ''No Way'' or its not wise and in normal cases, they will be right too, means according to your qualification and background, there will be many places for you BETTER than finland Economically, Financially and for Future point of you. But main thing is your choice. Some times people dont care if they earn less or life standard will be little down, they just want to live at a specific place cuz they like it. So its totally up to you. I am gonna present you a way to finland which is really not difficult and which will give you further way to your future in finland. I met about 8 people here in helsinki who used this way and 4 of them are fully settled here now.

According to your qualification and educational background, find degree programs in finnish universities. Collect information and apply at as many places as possible. Once you will be accepted in university, you will be able to get student residence permit and there will be no tuition fee for degree programs. So once you come here, study your degree and at the same time, keep full focus on learning finnish language. This will be your start. During the time of your study and stay, you will yourself find and figure out way to be in finland for future. For example, you will be interested in Phd program or find your partner or after passing language test, get some job etc etc. :)

Be aware that you have to find a permanent solution during your study because after your study you'll get 6 months to find a job. If you find no job in that time you have to leave.

I would say chances of being accepted for a masters in English or humanities in general in Finland are very small so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Not trying to be negative but I've seen cases.

Oh, I know exactly who and what you are. Your bluster doesn't confuse or intimidate or divert me for a moment.
Not even your almost-English does that.
I've known plenty just like you.
Sounds like Ellen has, too.

I think it's all good some of the posters are giving her ideas how to come here, they are making it sound so easy. It's not a walk in the park. Think, if it's difficult for even Fins to get in the door into higher education, why would it be any easier for a foreigner? I don't think she can just apply and bam.... will get a place.

And then she told a poster who had been to Egypt several times, basically 'what would you know? You've just been a tourist?'. Is it not the same as what she was when she visited here? I don't remember exactly, but wasn't it just 1 month she visited here? How's that any different?

I honestly don't know why you don't use your degree and go to a country where it can be used properly? For instance in England your life would be so much easier, with your degree alone you could get a decent job, with your language skills you'd friends much easier. Life in general would be so much easier. You want to leave your own country because you think it's bad and life is very hard there. Even if Finland is a 'free' country, life can probably be just as hard or even harder for a foreigner who comes here with no family, no job, very little means of support in everyday life, not knowing any of the language etc.

I've been here 13 years, work, have a child, am able to pay everything on my own, know some kind of Finnish (write it for work everyday, but I don't speak as well as write or read it because I work alone and my friends 'want' to use their English) and have almost only Finnish friends. And still, life can be freaking hard even if you are settled and everything appears to be fine and dandy.

Goodluck.

What, you mean she doesn't want to have sex after death? Egyptian legislators are quite liberal it seems.
maybe it will shake some of your stereotypes of Muslims seeking new homelands.
Yes, they want to make our homelands the kind of beacons of progress they are leaving.

The two posters who are giving her ideas how to get into the country. Just apply for schooling and you'll get a place...... etc.

Some do, for sure. But Ellen doesn't sound like that variety of immigrant.

America was first colonized by people willing to give up all their property and security and to risk their very lives in pursuit of the freedom to persecute even unto death other people whose religious beliefs differed from their own. Later on that included some Finns of a similar if perhaps less rabid ilk. Now almost 400 years later there are still too many in America almost like that, who would make their Christian version of Sharia law into the law of the land. But whether in Egypt or America or anywhere else, the driving force for that kind of thing can be a minority if they are well enough organized and sufficiently devious and unscrupulous. That leaves everybody else, many or possibly most of whom are reasonable, enlightened, progressive people.

Well I think the OP knows that it isn't that easy... even getting accepted to study is hard enough.

I'm sorry Ellen, it truly is difficult to immigrate to Finland without being married to a Finn (not mine. No touchy! ) or through study. If you go for the study route, be sure to choose another degree that is in high demand so you can get a job more easily. And what they say about learning Finnish is very true. No Finnish=No Job.

If you are a Christian Egyptian, there is plenty of proof to show your life in endangered and you need to leave because of religious oppression. If so, there must be some Coptics you can get in touch with here. Be sure everything you say to come here is true. Finns have a very strong dislike for fudging the facts. Once burned, they never trust you again.*
OK, best wishes!

Ellen Ripley wrote:Well, it looks like even asking how can I move to live in Finland isn't that welcomed, as if I don't have the right to live there, or even ask. Thanks anyway. And yes, if admin or mod wants to remove the whole topic, no problem

That's because you don't have the right. And your posts make it seem like it is your god given right to move here.

You aren't Finnish, and you aren't married t a Finn and it just sounds like you are trying any and every possible way to get here somehow.

You have been given great advice. Much of what you said I contradictory which is grounds for the scrutiny.

No one is going to remove the topic. It's helpful for others.
