The 600th post in this thread

Football News but not Irish...
Two headlines that make one wonder if it is still a sport.

Further away.
On Friday Alaa Mubarak, the son of Egypt's president Hosni Mubarak said
"When you insult my dignity... I will beat you on the head," the businessman, who had attended the game in Khartoum, said.
"We should treat Algeria like any country that has declared war on us"

The rule talk of "deliberate act" but from what I gather unless is unavoidable most people expect the ref to award a fault (unless they happen to be french ;) )

Here's the official rules by Fifa:
  • Handling the ball

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with
the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into
    consideration:
    • the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
    • the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
    • the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
    infringement
    • touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard etc.)
    counts as an infringement
    • hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard etc.) counts as an
    infringement

Isn't it about time to give up on the soap opera?
I mean, even if France's goal was disallowed Ireland would still have to beat them in penalties. That's technically a 50% chance.

I know and Ireland had plenty of chances in the game to finish off France. What Im saying is its like a double whammy witrh that draw.

Now, maybe, with all that talent, they might get close to the top of the Prem. I haven´t always liked them, but I am amazed how so many excellent players can´t get it together to win more & draw less. Let´s see what happens now, there´s still time (Craig Bellamy we love you!)

This is only my opinion, don´t get too stressed!
