You're starting to move into that obtuse area you love so much again.
Erm. Yes, they are servicing the interests of their employer (just like any other customer services), but it doesn't mean it can't be done in a polite manner. If they've had a !"#¤% day, it shouldn't matter. If they have a problem, they should step away until they can control themselves. Yes, if people are being abusive to them, fair play, but not all the time.
Seen, absolutely ROTFL!!

WTF. You should be ashamed. I thought the absolute role of Government is to serve the people, first, secondly and lastly. F*ck off to North Korea if you disagree.Pursuivant wrote:Well logically as the people are servicing the interests of the government and not the interests of the person coming behind the counter

You know I rather deal with someone who knows their stuff rather than with someone who is polite. Remember the time I was buyng my first own new computer. The effin "salespeople"... I rather deal with someone who gives me a price for what I need to do what I want to do rather than then face a dilemma of what to do with the heap of compost I bought from the salesman.Nicely wrote: but it doesn't mean it can't be done in a polite manner.

Ah yes... so, are you registered? What no ID number... sorry, you're not on the list of people to serve.Seen Canary wrote: WTF. You should be ashamed. I thought the absolute role of Government is to serve the people, first, secondly and lastly.

Yes, I also prefer people who know their stuff. Even better if they are polite with it. However, it appears that they can't do either...

Man, you are beginning to drown in a sea of nonsense. I have an ID number, I have been paying my Finnish taxes for over 2 years now, I'm elligible to vote.Pursuivant wrote:Ah yes... so, are you registered? Anyways, it's called Public service. Not Only Certain Persons Service; not Only Registered Persons with ID Number Service. Remove thyself to Phnom Phen if they'll take you. Which I doubt.

Re: moving to Finland ..living with Finn etc etc
You clearly do not think very logically.Nicely wrote:Tiwaz, what keeps a system working is EFFICIENT bureaucracy. Inane bureaucracy is a complete lack of communication between departments dealing with related matters and, worse still, there being no defined process for dealing with matters in the same department. If it was efficient, they could tell 'leechers' to piss off in half the time. If it was run efficiently by people offering advice instead of brick walls, it would cost the government, and in course the taxpayer, considerably less to run 'the system'. Yes, an inefficient system has leeches, but many of these are bureaucrats. Bureaucracy encompasses the rules and all the people responsible for making and implementing them (i.e. counter staff).
What is communication between departments? Papers with stamps and signatures. YOUR task is to get right paper, to right place, in right order.
Again, failure is not in system but you. You try to shortcut, you fail to study what everything means (potentially because you cannot understand the instructions which are in Finnish, but guess what... System is built to serve people of Finland, of whom well over 90% can and prefer to do their business in Finnish. Not to serve few foreigners who think they are center of the world).
As for you idea about efficient system telling the leeches to piss off. How would leeches be identified? Hmm? Should they shake Magic 8-ball for answer? Again, this is part of the process. One sector of public services handles one part, another handles another part. If leech fails to prove to one portion that they are not leeches, they get nowhere.
Of course you would prefer that your gilt arse was serviced so that all you had to do is float down the Ryanair and things were done for you, but over here we presume that people take some responsibility for themselves.
Public service does not mean "asskissing you and giving you what you want. Over here, until you get that magical ID-Number, you are tourist. Tourists are not eligible to all the services citizens or other habitants are.Seen Canary wrote: Man, you are beginning to drown in a sea of nonsense. Nor does Public service mean that everything is catered to you. You are expected to take responsibility for your own arse, to figure out what and where you need to deliver and in which order.

So theres no need to visit KELA, EURES, Malmi Police Station etc. is there. I've not been into a KELA office this century, and the last time I dealt with them was via phone. All my tax stuff I've managed to do online as well... so what do you need to visit those places for unless you like men in uniform and have a masochistic streak? Oh yes, I did go to the common service point in the Myyrmäki library to renew my ID card... I had to wait for my turn. That was probably due to the inherent racism, as was I needed to have photos with me and pay 40 euros. See now if I'd been an EU citizen I could have pranced into there and whined all day about it.Seen Canary wrote: Man, you are beginning to drown in a sea of nonsense. Mmm, don't know about hanging around the railway station all day enjoying the craic......................but I do hate going past them, as I usually get called rude names related to my hair colour..................
But, what I do find interesting, and I sneakily admire about Finland is it's absolute refusal to give way. In other countries when immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, migrant workers etc., start bleating, the usual thing is that the what my SO used to call "Oulu Nurses" (I think he meant those kind of pinko lefty type women who often resemble East German Swimmers) get on the bandwagon about "integration and equal rights" and the government eventually throws money at Immigrant Groups and they get all sorts of things like their own Soccer Clubs and what have you. There was this one case in Ireland where some lad from Nigeria (well it would be wouldn't it?) was in the country illegally, fighting his various deportation issues at the expense of the taxpayer, he was eventually deported, but the Oulu Nurses (Irish branch) bleated so loud that he was brought back - on a government plane - . Can't see it happening in Finland.

Hei Titswaz and Pursuivant
You are both so full of sh*t that it's no wonder you sit on your fat arses all day moaning about Johnny Foreigner. Who mentioned asskissing? If you don't want to service the public then get another fecking job. I'd like to come over there and service your arse with my f*cking boot.
You both spout nationalistic bullsh*t without having a clue what you're talking about.
Pursuivant - You do everything online. Whoopee doo. Why don't you try venturing out to the real world sometime. You say you've never visited KELA, EURES, Malmi Police Station etc. so what gives you the right or knowledge to spew forth about the level of service that one experiences there?
Titswaz - Tourists? Citizens? Other habitants? Please define. I know what a tourist is. I know what a citizen is. So who are these other habitants. I can only presume you mean foreigners. And you have the temerity to criticise Nicely and accuse her of not thinking logically. I think you owe her an apology for typing before you think.

Hei Biscayne
Why don't you take your prejudiced bile and spread it elsewhere. I'm not saying I agree with wholesale immigration but if I was an African chap living a life of fear, poverty, persecution(both religious and political) then I know I would try my damned hardest to make it to a developed nation. You are a fascist (I'll not use the term racsist because it has lost all meaning these days). You're obviously the type of person that would have grassed up your Jewish neighbours to the gestapo. I've met a load of Nigerians in my life and in general they are friendly, talkative with a sense of humour and they speak English.

You should be glad you are even served - we don't need all these expensive special services - they're to acommodate some ungrateful foreignersSeen Canary wrote: so what gives you the right or knowledge to spew forth about the level of service that one experiences there?
