interior and product design
Re: interior and product design
I was referring to those projects that are made with elements imported (sofas, armchairs, tables, other furniture ).
take this for example: http://www.lemon.com.ro/proiecte.asp?lang=eng - specially the ones with purple's line.

That website gave me epilepsy and rashes... I would pick the "boring" Finnish style any day compared to those colours!

Re: interior and product design
then take that web site, and multiply it with 500, at least, and you'll get the majority of present interior design!
sad...isn't it?!

Apparently, when you did post first, you said the same thing about Finnish Design and interiors..that they were pretty boring..dessi_tm wrote:then take that web site, and multiply it with 500, at least, and you'll get the majority of present interior design!![]()

The website is a Romanian one and might cater to their tastes..
But then if YOU wanna make a difference here.. Then
1) Try to fit in and prove that you can
2) Try to follow the norms and rules n regulations no matter how much you dont like them..
3) Once you start doing (1) and (2), then try to earn the respect of the locals so that they turn to you for unique ideas..
4) You can then do what you want after you have proven yourself..
you are at (0)..so IF you really wanna stay here..then think different..
I am not sayin that Finns are different..
Finns are Intelligently different than any other place you've been..
Finns are obsessive and compulsive enough to know that what they have is their own and adequate enough to survive the winds of change..
Not that Finns dont change.. They do ..once they find a rationale..but then most people find that rationale irrational..
The paradoxy of the mind and the culture is a boon and a curse at once..that you will not be able to understand..until you become one..
and then to start changing it is a challenge greater than makin the mountain to the mole hill..

Re: interior and product design
I'm still slightly lost here.
Is there a chance you can give an example of a great piece of interior design and show the hand drawn sketches that were used to design it ( and none of this 'sketches drawn after design is constructed nonsense!)
If you can be certain that the design was on budget too it would really help makes sense of this conversation..

the interior designer aren't capable of designing something without the software library?!
sorry I couldn't post here any relevant pictures, but I'm still searching!

Re: interior and product design
It's just the digital era taking over.
People don't just want to see a charcoal sketch of someting, or an inked drawing as a final design . They want to be able to walk through it in a virtual world, they want to be able to "sit" on their new couch and think what it would be like to do it when it's the real thing. They want to wonder what the room might look like under different lighting conditions.
You seem to think that using a computer somehow takes away from the creativity of a piece, i disagree. It adds a whole new dimension too it. It also offers endess possibilities.
There is also another big factor to take into account, and that is the time against money factor.
Lets take the following example:
Say you design on paper a kitchen. You draw 10 detailed drawings of different areas of the kitchen from the given specifications from the customer. Lets say the customer wants the kitchen to be have a nice light wood finish to it. So.. you spend ...lets say 2 weeks, doing your drawings, shading them, colouring them in the colours the customer has said they wanted. Of course you will charge 2 weeks work for doing this.
So after 2 weeks you have a meeting with the customer... " Very good we love the drawings, you are a very talented artist,but... we decided on the way here that we would now like a dark wooden finish to our new kitchen and we want these cuboards to be moved over here, the fridge here, and instead of a single sink we want a double one...."
Using a paper method You will now have to charge another week or so's worth to redo your drawings to the new specs. More money for the customer to pay, great for you , not so great for them.
The thing is that people change their mind, and that is a factor you have to think about as well especially when you design for someone else. People want to get what they want, fast, and pay the least amount of money they can for it.
If this kitchen excercise had been done on a 3D software you could take the customer on a vitual tour round their new kitchen AND made any changes to it that they wanted while they stood there. no extra money for them to pay, job done, customer happy.

Re: interior and product design
you're absolutely right and I agree with you! I said earlier that you gain time and money with the computer. but in my childish opinion, I thing it should be fair enough only with these 2 things; you will not go further, you will take advantage only of your experience and your talent.

Re: interior and product design
I say that the artistic "talent" is there if someone can do the stuff in the "old fashioned" way... then if you can also do it with computer rendering thats another kind of "talent"... but to know both ways is the best...

Same thing with blacksmiths, only now they are more like artists than needed professionals to make tools.dessi_tm wrote:today i saw on tv a computer software that is doing graphic design....all by itself!
