Crazy cricket freak wants to see/ hear The Ashes

Post by oompah18 » Fri Jul 29, 2005 11:08 pm

I don´t think Finns have heard of cricket, so does anyone know what TV sattelite channels have the Tests on? World service radio seems to do very little, but the reception where I live is nonexistant anyway! Does anyone play cricket in Finland anyway? We are bringing up our babes bilingaully & in both Finn & Brit cultures, so I will be responsible for bringing cricket to Kangasala methinks!!!!!!

Ashes & Cricket

Post by zed » Sun Jul 31, 2005 11:24 am

Yup...you can listen to the Ashes from the beeb (BBC) website.

About cricket in Finland....I was told by a Finn that there are two or three teams around...though I don't know where.....the other day I saw two guys with cricket kit....but I was in a hurry and didn't ask them about it......I would also love to know where one could get a game or a nets session....anyone know anything about this....appreciate the info.

I have even travelled to Sharjah (UAE) to watch England lose one-dayers to SA, India & Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Turku CC has a forum here as well if you're interested. They might be able to help you better than me.

If you hear anything from Tampere CC let me know. I wanted to play this season and I emailed the club chairman or whatever from the address on their website - he never answered me.

Well, it's true... there *IS* cricket in Tampere. :-)

Although it is still quite a young club, this year Tampere finished in 3rd place in the national cricket league... just missing out on getting to the final after missing some key squad members in the crucial final match of the season.
