Hey guys!
I found out that there is a possibility of getting a tax-exempt for vehicle use if you are a student in Finland from another country.
In my case I am a Latvian studying in Lahti and I would like to bring a car from my home country because it is more affordable to buy a car in Latvia then in Finland (approximately 15%-20% more expensive prices for used cars here in Finland based on Nettiauto.fi, Tori.fi and Facebook Marketplace), paying the tax for it (most of the times it is double the amount I would pay in Latvia. Some older diesel cars can go up to 3 times more then in Latvia) and also paying insurance which is around 1000 EUR for me (4 times more then in Latvia).
So my question to you guys is - whether anyone of you has had an experience with Veroskatt about this issue and how has it turned out for you? Did you bring your car to Finland from your home country? Is it problematic to receive a confirmation letter from the Tax Administration?
Does working part time affect anything?
Also it is worth to mention I am living with my girlfriend who is a resident of Finland. Could it affect something?
I will be thankful for any information from you.
Cheers!

Your girlfriend cannot use your car without you being present.
Vero = tax in Finnish, skatt = tax in Swedish. When you said veroskatt I read it as taxtax.
