I finally had a chance to check the Varisto/Vantaa kirpputori. It's in the parking garage under the Nettojatti store just up from the Kodin Anttila and other furniture stores in Varisto (near Myrrmaki and just off the Keha III).
Since it rained on Sunday, Vermo swapmeet was closed. I believe that directed quite a few of the buyers over to the nettojatti swap meet. There are about 4 rows, perhaps 50 sellers at most, with the usual clothing, toys, junk. Like Vermo, there weren't too many professional sellers - just a bunch of people selling their personal items. There was also a large section devoted to NettoJatti's overstock - so you could get items like masking time for 1e a large roll etc.
I bought some Disneyland magazines from 1970 for a few bucks. I was tempted to get a high end complete karate uniform for 20e for my 2 year old - but she's only a size 93 right now and it was 140 - so a few years before she'd be able to use it (like 8!). There were a lot of book sellers this time - some English and a large lot of different types of graphic novels in Finnish and English. Lots of children's toys and games as well as children's clothing.
More information on the swapmet (including pics) can be found here:

Incidentally, nettojatti is a tarjoustalo type store but with much more interesting items. They are open during the swap meet and worth a look-see.
