Hello again! For first passport holder, do you need to give power attorney to someone with Finnish passport/id to pick up passport for you?
If cannot get it then you have to give power of attorney. There is a form at police web site. But if you concerned about your expired Alien ID card, you can still pick passport with that one.

Last week I had a chat with a lady who got citizenship in two weeks! She and her family applied in February this year, they were applying for permanent permit and for citizenship at the same time. Also they had several appointments on different days for her, her son and her husband, so migri lady decided to take all applications together under her own control. And they got all decisions very fast. She thinks that migri lady liked her and her family and just wanted to help them with papers.
As usual, the human factor means a lot on how fast and successful you will get documents in this country. So, guys, I'm waiting for a day when all useless clerks will be exchanged by artificial intelligence. This is the only way for everybody to have a real equality.

Do we need to speak Finnish/Swedish at the police station?
You should have good enough Finnish or Swedish to do this if you passed YKI but no one can force you. Congratulations also.

You and the rest of us. Except AI has been found to discriminate more than humans. It is generally a lot more efficient though, so that might even things out a bit.

There's a lot of evidence to suggest that whatever automated system they were trialling during the summer. It's ramping up now.

Still won't fix much if you come from a country with bad document processing and slow background checks.

Thank you everyone for the past months. It’s time for me to leave this forum. I finally got my positive decision today. It took me exactly 18 months. I proved my identity on 1.6.2021 then moved to stage 2 on 8.4.2022 and got decision on 2.12.2022.

02/11/21 - 4824
...
30/11/22 - 1763

Best of luck to the rest of you!
So here's something for all you whiners who are crying that everything is racism and discrimination.

Me and pigrabbit applied almost exact same time. Why did his number start from 4824 and mine from 7120?

I applied 3 days after him and got myself identified the day after that. I'm still waiting though  It took me more than 8 months for my number to drop below what his started at.

Re-read when pigrabbit94 applied! I assume he/she started recording the queue number after 5 months of waiting, so initial number was something like 6500.

Lol if this is your evidence that racism doesn't exist.
Maybe next time you check the numbers correctly.

Have you noticed that every week there are appearing accounts of people who got the decision in 3-4-5-6 months? And those accounts are totally new and are having only one post on this forum? Don't you think it might just be trolling? Then it is easy to mix up how many months person was "waiting for citizenship".
