advice or experience on how to move to work & live in Sweden after brexit?

Post by mojo88 » Wed Jan 19, 2022 6:15 pm

anyone here have any advice or experience on how to move to work & live in Sweden after brexit from Finland?

e.g like if you have a British passport & are offered a job in Sweden, is it easy to get a residence permit on grounds of employment & is it expensive or time consuming..

apparently Brexiters can be in Sweden for 90 days without any paperwork, but must apply for a work/residence permit after that - apparently it takes 6-9 months for a work permit - thats ridiculous

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

People in this forum are either EU citizens or non-EU citizens who moved to Finland.
You should ask in Swedish forums for experiences by non-EU citizens moving to Sweden.

You should double-check whether you are allowed to work during these 90 days.
UK citizens can visit the EU as tourist for 90 days, but only work in Finland if they qualify as specialists. I doubt Sweden allows non-EU citizens to work in any job without a permit - if it is allowed at all there are likely restrictions on the type of job.

Finland is faster and decides on residence permits on the basis of work already after 4 months, but Sweden can make their own rules and time limits on this.
