Has anyone experienced long unemployment after receiving permanent residence permit?

Where to buy? Where can I find? How do I? Getting started.

Has anyone experienced long unemployment after receiving permanent residence permit?

Post by DrStrange1990 » Wed May 18, 2022 6:48 pm

Hello Friends,

I have read several posts where people have asked that will their PR get cancelled if they lost the job and someone has answered that it should not be cancelled and you can RESIDE in Finland forever.

Losing a job is one of the biggest fear some people have. So I want to know

1. After getting permanent residence permit, has someone unfortunately lost the job and looking for a job since very long time (let's say 10 years)?
2. In case if you were part of your profession's union, for how long you get the money from Union?
3. In case if you have taken a home loan, can you still pay installment of home loan with Union's payment?
4. If you were not part of union and you receive the money from Kela, can you pay your home loan with Kela money?
5. If you had taken unemployment insurance against your home loan, for how long you can stay insured after being unemployed?
6. Do you get support from Te-toimisto to get back similar kind of a job or you will have to work wherever they ask you to work?
7. IF you can not pay home loan with Kela or union money, will the bank give you time to get a job back and continue paying loan or they can seize your property right away?
8. Will migri ask you questions if you have been unemployed for example for 10 years?

Thanks friends for sharing your thoughts and experiences 😊.

10 years without finding any job sounds unlikely, unless there are serious health reasons.

400 working days is the maximum.

You can use the money for whatever you want.
Check the amount you and your family would then have available and do the math.
If your spouse still has a well-paid job it might be possible to continue paying the rates as normal with union money if you cut down expenses.

5. If you had taken unemployment insurance against your home loan, for how long you can stay insured after being unemployed?
This is stated in the conditions of the insurance.

Initially you are only expected to take similar jobs, but after some time you will be expected to accept any job or your benefits will be cut.
A mortgage unemployment insurance will stop paying when the insured person deliberately stays unemployed.

It is possible to renegotiate the payment conditions with your bank later.
This is more likely to be successful after several years when the remaining mortgage is low.

Banks usually agree to suspend payments or paying only interest for a few months, some mortgage agreements even offer this as a standard option.

What should they ask?
Unemployment is not a reason for cancelling a PR.
