Contrators in Finland

Post by qasper » Mon Oct 31, 2022 4:53 pm

Hi! My wife got a dream job in Finland, hence we are moving here. I am thinking about finding a local job as I resigned from my local contract. Now I have income as a middleman in software development. E.g. I receive money (outside EU) for the customer's request, pay another person for work(also outside EU), doublecheck the result and implement it. After 6 months I should pay local taxes and guess should register toiminimi anyway. Is it common to work as toiminimi(contractor) to any Finnish company(like b2b) in software development? If yes, what's the difference with usual employment(vacations, seek leaves, bonuses and so on)?

You have to ask those from your boss. And if you are sole trader, you are the boss. Ask your boss to do deals that make enough money so you can take vacation, be sick and get bonus. :P

Any income/inheritance/gifts you receive might be subject to Finnish taxes from the moment you move your residence to Finland.
Paying Finnish taxes on a business abroad can be a pain, moving the income to a business in Finland is better.

It is an option.
