Monkeys

Post by ella1985 » Fri Aug 19, 2005 9:13 am

Ok, this might be a bit of a weird question... I have noticed in alot of finnish metal songs, the singer talks about "monkeys"... like sonata arctica's songs for example. Then i noticed it also in maanantai by Apulanta:

Niin apina tahtoi sinutkin
Apina vei sut kuitenkin
Ketä sun kuulin huutavan
Tuli saa lahjan kalleimman

So now, is there some other meaning for monkey? cause it seems like such a random thing to sing about and i've noticed it in 3 bands lyrics now!! Always to do with sad songs too, so i assume they are not just trying to be silly. I thought maybe it has another meaning or something? Any insights would be very appreciated! :)

apina = ape

I think like in English it can have connotations of being uncouth/wild. :D
