I have been in Finland for 2 years on this permit now. I wanted to mention is as I come across so few people on this permit and wanted to offer my experience to anyone with questions :)

Hi I am moving to Finland soon to join my partner who got offered a job there.
We have lived together just shy of two years, and I do not think I can get the cohabitating spouse RP because of this.

My question about the Intimate relationship permit- I know there are working restrictions, but can I still register with the TE Office to do the immigration integration plan? Like taking a language class and other classes for employment? Or is this unavailable to people on this specific RP?

If I do get the intimate relationship RP, when we have officially lived together for 2 years, can I apply for the other residence permit on the grounds of cohabitation? Or am I stuck with this one? If so for how long?

Thank you

You cannot register as jobseeker when you are not allowed to work.

While this is true, one is still entitled to an integration plan. That's for everyone with a residence permit.

"Tätä lakia sovelletaan henkilöön, jolla on ulkomaalaislaissa (301/2004) tarkoitettu voimassa oleva oleskelulupa Suomessa."

The integration plan probably then includes language classes.

You can get a decision on another type of permit as soon as you are eligible. How long is there to go? Processing times for intimate relationship can be quite long so probably you will end up being eligibly for cohabitation before being issued the permit.

Adding to what betelguese said: you can just change your existing rp application by telling them about it via email.

I arrived on schengen visa in Finland and applied Intimate rp here. Waited 8 months, got married and told migri about it. They then issued family rp to me.
