Moving to Finland from US
Moving to Finland from US
I’m looking to move to Finland with my husband. We are both US citizens and I’m hoping to move next year (or sooner). I’ve read a few different things so I’m kindof confused. Am I able to move to Finland on a “family ties” residence permit if we’re both US citizens? We’d all be moving together (my husband, me, and our child) so obviously trying to stay together. He has permanent income of VA disability which we definitely get no matter where we live. So I was wondering if that would count as “income proof” as well as if we’d be able to use the family ties reason for the residence permit.

"Moving to Finland to be with a family member
If you have a family member who lives in Finland and you want to move in to live with him or her, you need a residence permit on the basis of family ties. If you do not have a residence permit, you can visit Finland and stay for a maximum of 90 days."
So, one half of the couple must already be living in Finland, and that person would be your sponsor.

It's enough to move together from abroad with one person who qualifies for some other reason than family.Auringon_kukka wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 10:59 amSo, one half of the couple must already be living in Finland, and that person would be your sponsor.

What is the underlying basis for one of you to qualify?
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.
