Hello guys! I received my RP based on family ties about two weeks ago and it's a one-year-long permit. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and a family emergency, I cannot move to Finland for 9 more months. So that will only leave me 3 months from the permit and then I will have to re-apply to extend it. So the question here is, will that cause any complications with migri when I try to renew it? Could that affect the decision to extend my permit?
I know this is a complicated question, but has anyone here gone through something similar?
Kiitos!

I can only speak to my experience. I arrived in Finland about one month after my residence permit had begun. I had no problem extending my residence permit the following year.RavenTheCruel wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:24 pmHello guys! I'm sure others with experience more similar to your case will be able to chime in here.
Congratulations by the way, and welcome to Finland when you arrive!

You might get extra questions to explain why this happened and you might not get the extended permit for as long as usual.RavenTheCruel wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:24 pmHello guys! I have a similar situation here and I'm also wondering. I contacted migri about this months ago and their reply was that it's preferred if you spend at least half of the permit validity in Finland and if you're not able to do that you'll have to provide them with a good reason when you apply for extension. They did not mention anything else.RavenTheCruel wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:24 pmHello guys! I received my RP based on family ties about two weeks ago and it's a one-year-long permit.
