RESIDENT PERMIT FOR SPOUSE OF FINNISH CITIZEN

I am presently in the UK on a work visa, I married my finnish gf in October in Helsinki and applied for the resident permit when I got back to the UK. I told my employer my plan to move to finland and as my wifes pregnant and will prefer to have a family where either of us have family . My family is back home in Africa. My work visa expires feb 15 and the processing checker for my resident permit says ill receive a decision by feb 28, Ill like to know what percentages of application go over the 4 months and will they contact me within the 4 months if there is any issue with the application. Ill just like to know if they will stick to the 4months and if it goes over ill like to cancel so I can go reapply from Africa as I dont mind going there for a little while. My wife will be very disappointed but better than becoming an illegal in the UK.

if i were you, i would go to my home country and i would apply for D type visa. That’s how you can solve this problem. You can go to Finland with only your passport and visa and you can collect your permit from Finland. Search for it. You don’t need to cancel your application because it takes really much time. i am waiting for more than 3 months now and still waiting for processing.

That was what I thought but checking the vfs page for my home country the appointment dates are very few and far between . So I might wait it out and use the 30days I get from the UK after my visa expiry to leave and just hope they send it within the 30days. My wife is pregnant and its looking more and more I might miss the birth if they dont get back to me within the 4months

she got a proof of pregnancy and we sent this already but It was rejected . I sent another email letting them know If I have to go back home to reapply Ill definitely miss the birth of our first child. I hope they reconsider as apparently there is no refund on cancelled application which is a bit crazy as I wont have a job for a while in Finland while I learn Finnish so every savings should be better spent not another 700 euros on a new application
