Temporary work abroad

Post by Allen » Tue Feb 11, 2025 9:47 am

I recently found out it's possible to work abroad and remain part of Finnish social security system for up to 2 years. I also heard about a case, though second hand, where someone who worked fully remotely in Finland for a Finnish company wanted to work from Spain temporarily, and after being refused by the employer, got some lawyers involved and made it happen. Is this something the worker has the right to do?

I work fully remotely for a Finnish company and am considering asking my employer if I can work from France for a year, for a good reason not just because. So would like to know about any information about how this works.

It depends on the interpretation of your employment contract. Your union is best positioned to answer.
