Hi everyone,
I'm planning to move to Helsinki in the coming months and have been researching places to stay. I’d really appreciate any advice on how to find affordable housing in or around the city. Are there particular websites, neighborhoods, or tips you’d recommend for someone new to Finland?
Thanks in advance!

Depends what you call affordable, and how far you are willing to commute. Helsinki is just very expensive, but rents drop fairly fast outside the city. oikotie.fi and vuokraovi.fi are the 2 go to sites for renting, etuovi.fi for buying property.

I used to rent a ffrom from SATO. They have many apartments in different places. I found it reasonable and there was some campaing that there was no minimum period to live in the place before being able to break the contract. Also in the smae campaing I did not have to pay the 2 months warranty.
