I do not think that there are any Finnish language immersion courses in England. I may be wrong,of course. It is also possible that I did not understand your question.

St Alban´s School has courses for children and adults:

Hi, Not sure you quite understand the idea of an immersion course, it would be very difficult to run such a course in a different country,
The whole point of such a course is not only to immerse you in the langauge but also the culture.

Besides, could you imagine the difficulty trying to find Finnish speaking serving staff for the canteen? Ensuring that whichever pub or bar you went into in the evenings only had Finnish speakers in it and the such!

Hi,

Indeed the term "immersion course" rather presupposes that you're in the target country already - but maybe you mean "intensive course" in Finnish? :) I'm not sure if that kind of courses exist in the UK - but of course you should not be scolded for asking :?

You might ask from the Finnish embassy, you'll find their contact details at http://www.formin.fi/missions (search by country...)

On top of the suomikoulu link in an earlier post, there are a few UK universities that offer studies in the Finnish language. You'll find them listed at

http://finland.cimo.fi

or more specifically:

http://finland.cimo.fi/studying_finnish ... broad.html

If you live close to any of those varsities, it might be a good idea to get in touch and find out if they offer any short-time courses. (I don't know if British universities have language centres like most Finnish ones, where it may be possible to attend language classes even if you're not registered as a degree student - so-called open-enrollment courses that you pay for?) Again maybe it doesn't hurt to ask

I was only kidding! I don't think there are any immersion courses or intensive courses for Finnish anywhere in the world, except in Finland.

Are you in Finland now, or are you and your husband moving over to Finland soon? Yoiu can get by nicely in Finland with English, and then pick up the local language in situ if you need to.
