Dear all,
I posted the last time before our move to Finland, 3 months ago. In the meantime, we (family of 5) all arrived in Rovaniemi, and bought an old house in a very nice location there.
Now, the real challenge starts: we have to renovate it, hire people, choose interiors, and so on. Everything with our (unfortunately) only slowly progressing Finnish language skills.
One question: does anybody know how this thing works with the tax refund for house improvements? I heard that certain works are eligible to get a refund when you do your tax declaration, for as much as 60% of the labour costs in case you hire an official company instead of the black market.
I would be interested to know whether doing new wastewater pipes in bathroom and tiling of walls and floors is an eligible work for this. Unfortunately, the english website of the tax office doesn't tell this.
Don't bother too long if this is complicated for you to find out. Then I have to ask one of my colleagues again (who by now is perhaps tired of these stupid questions).
Best
