Hi everyone,
I have been considering moving to Finland to work as a Software QA, Team leader for a big company in Helsinki who is willing to offer me a job and sign-up to run all the formalities with the visa etc.
Can you please help me with some clues as to what are the usual incomes/salaries for such a position?
Also, any other information related to IT/QA employment and advantages in Finland would be greatly appreciated
Thanks a lot!

In addition, the weekend issue of Ilta-Sanomat listed several infos last week.
They are average monthly gloss incomes in euros in 2004. I hope that they give you some useful references.

Boy, where have you been all these years? Among the Nordic countries the salary difference between m and f is the biggest in this country. That's the fact.
According to the same source, the biggest difference is seen in Social and Healthcare area boss job ... m 3515, f 2448. Diff. 69.6%.
BTW if the original poster is an Indian, multiply the figure by 0.333 and if from Hungary or somewhere such then by 0.5.
We just won't allow foreigners to come and pick up the fruits we have been cultivating all those years with blood, sweat, and milk

Yes they do. This is a very complex issue. It gets talked about alot sometimes , usually under the name palkkaerot (wage diferences). I write the things I remember about discussions about this issue. These differences are not institutional and not on paper anywhere. There are differences between public and private sector.
Women on average do get less. But they choose on average professions that have lower pay. So comparing the average wage of males and females ís practically irrelevant as the question slides to reasons why women/men choose certain jobs and why not.
The average wage for a man and woman in the same position is the question. To my understanding there are differences . But on the other hand some people explain them by women doing less overwork or work in general and being more out of work.
Then there is the issue of women getting babies and going out of work and some say costs the employer a staggering amount of money.

I checked the EU website and it says that within EU, men and women get equal pay for the same work. It comes as a shock to me that in Finland there are differences.
In India which is still a developing country, there is equal pay.

At least on the paper, like in the EU
"Women generally earn a far lower wage than men doing the same work. It has been estimated that women’s wage rates are, on the average, only 75% of men’s wage rates and constitute only one fourth of the family income. In no State do women and men earn equal wages in agriculture."
