looking for a Finnish penpal

Post by alikCZ » Tue Dec 20, 2005 10:52 am

Hello, I'm trying to learn Finnish on my own from various textbooks but apart from no possibility to speak Finnish at all, I also feel I lack enough reading since I can find no simplified Finnish books (I mean something like those English "Readers for beginners"). That's why I decided to look for someone who would like to swap emails with me now and then - writing very simple Finnish texts on various topics from everyday life to me and, if possible, willing to correct my attempts. All I can offer in return is the same in Czech, which is my mother tongue (and the subject I studied at university). In fact I'd be happy to find a penpal who, at the same time, would know some basic Czech and would like to learn some more. My Finnish is still very simple and bad but I'm eager to learn. If interested, please mail me on haisuli(at)seznam(dot)cz

We have a deal!

If you can with ease (= two years of constant gurgle) teach me how to pronounce the Czech ^r as in Dvorak and your number four, and in the mean time everything there is to know about strange consonants mixed with unusual vowel sounds, I'll promise to send you unintelligible letters of my daily life in Finnish.

Or would 20 euros do the trick?

You can contact me, slightly occasionally, er... here.

Ahoj!

Would be funny if it at least faintly resemled Czech, which it doesn't. It rather looks like Polish (remotely though); we don't have such consonant clusters in Czech, though those we do give a lot of pain in the neck to foreigners I admit.
