Social Security Number - SSN

Post by rajeevmw » Wed Jan 04, 2006 12:22 am

I will be working in Helsinki for some time (8-10) months (using my work permit). Do I need to get SSN ?

If yes, what is the process for getting this? Also, is there any benefit of having it (say discounted transport prices) etc ?

The number you get is called a "HETU", not an "SSN".

You would need it to get a cheaper bus pass. (half price)

Well, to work, to pay taxes, to do almost anything related you need to get it.

He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name.

needed to libraries, to video rental places...
just to be a person, not nobody, according to law
it's understandable for me that when you get to Finland you register and apply for it as well
Und die jahre ziehen ins Land und wir trinken immer noch ohne Verstand...
