Will I get a job in Info Tech (Systems/Networking Admin)

Post by zee » Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:54 am

How do I go about getting a small job that will allow me study and still
make enough money to sustain my self when I get to Finland?
Actually Im thinking of getting a Finnish degree and Masters there after; already I have applied to a few schools in Finland.
Do you know of any IT company that would be able and willing to employ me?
Thank you very much.

(As replied to in a PM... did everyone get a PM on this? ;-) ):

No I don't, but I'm not in that field of work myself... so...

I would say however, that the likelihood of you getting a job in IT without yet having a degree is small unless you are very talented in a field already (and can prove it).

Otherwise there are plenty of part time, menial labor jobs available (restaurant, services, cleaning etc.) while you study. Not as glamourous but still income.

I agree. I work as a sys admin here and it took me more than 6 months to get a job in Finland (I've a degree in IT). It's never that easy to get a job here. However, you can give it a try. Good luck!

I know of a couple of companies that employee students for a couple of days a week todo basic infra maintainence and the usual OS and App installation (In fact we're currently thinking about it).

Saying that, 100-200 Euros/week may not be enough to "sustain" you.
