Ski buses from Helsinki
Hi,
I'm staying over the weekend and would like to go to one of the local ski / snowboard resorts. Does anyone have phone numbers / websites for the ski buses from Helsinki? Anyone else intersted in going snowboarding for the day?
I used to get one before from the main train station to Himos. Left at 7am Saturday morning. Would do the same again but it was another guy who had the number and organised the trips. I would rather book in advance and not just show up at 7am hoping to find a seat only to be left in the cold!!!
Thanks
Brian

Just wandered if you took the "Himos Bus"?
How was it?
Am thinking to do the same either this weekend or the weekend after?
Cheers,
Oliver

Got the bus no problem. Only hassle was ringing that number. I tired it two times and got voice mail, which was kinda hard to understand seeing as it was in Finnish... funny that!!! Asked a work mate to call and he got to a person first time and he sorted me with a booking on the bus.
The bus leaves at 7am from the main train station. Its the bus plaza, over by the casino. The journey is about 2 and half hours with no delays. So you get back in the evening around 7:30 or 7:45pm. There are lots of announcements in Finnish... gernerally they are
* bus leaves Himos at 5pm
* bus is closed during the day. So take anything you need during the day with you.
Himos itself is fine. The runs are short but that's life in Finland. There is enough there to keep you occupied for a day. The bus company have a deal done for ski / snowboard rental. It not quite full price. I have my own board now so can not remember the price.
So go for it. Should be fine.
cheers

Just another couple of questions:
* Does the bus ticket get you any discount on the day lift pass?
* Are the main lifts at Himos drag lifts?
* Are there any day lockers?
Might take a look this weekend, though the weather is looking pretty damn cold!
Thanks again!

Bus ticket is €40 euros. That includes the lift pass. They'll gives these to you before getting off the bus.
Mostly T bars, so they are a drag!!!!
Yes there are lockers but I have never used them.... When I rented I just left my boots under a bench... Always have been there when I got back.
Ya looks and feels fairly freaking cold. Nipp inside and drink lots of hot choclate with brandy

Brian,
Just to let you know that I took the bus to Himos last Saturday - it was quite empty as the weather was so cold (Minus 25c at Himos in the morning, though did rise to Minus 22c!), but still was great to get back on the board again!
Anyway thanks for your info and let us know if you are back this way and heading there again.
Cheers,
Oliver
