Depends on the kind of keyboard you have. Sorry no, that's silly, if it's querty then there's no problem in the first place. Press the button under 'caps lock' together with the one next to 'p' (¨^) then press a or o. It takes some time but it's the only way. Or get a querty keyboard. Yrittää!

If you have Windows, just go to settings -> control panel -> keyboard. There you can choose the "language" of the keyboard, and with the Finnsh one you'll get ä's and ö's and even å's :)

If you're a Windows user, use a program called "Character Map". It comes with Windows and you should find it in your Start menu, in Programs/Accessories/System Tools or something like that. You can copy any characters you need from that program to any other program, and it'll also give you the Alt + codes Hank was telling you about. (That is, if you want an "ä", hold down the Alt key and type 0228).

And btw, it's "hyvää päivää", with two ä's at the end of each word.

To do it hold the left ALT key while typing the number code on your number keyboard.

ä ALT + 132
ö ALT + 148
å ALT + 134

Ä ALT + 142
Ö ALT + 153
Å ALT + 143

You could also just change your keyboard to finnish!
If I need to write something on a finnish computer I always change the keyboard to german keyboard. Ofcourse the keys still show the finnish meaning, but when you hit a key the letter that would be on a german keyboard on that place appears.
Of course that only works when you can tipe blinde and you should know where which letter is...
Or you do it like mentioned above. Switch to finnish keyboard, write an ä and an ö and then switch back to your keyboard language and do it with copy and past.
