Need to find a studio or apartment in Espoo or Helsinki

Post by Rodzaidi » Sun Mar 19, 2006 4:51 pm

Im looking for a studio or apartment either is Espoo or Helsinki in the range between 200 to 300 euros per month. Complete with bus transportations nearby

I may be moving to Finland in early 2007 , and my duration of stay in Finland is about 2 years or more. So Im looking for a rental studio/apartment for a long term basis.

My work place in Finland is in Espoo.

Thanks

With that price range your "nearby" is about 3 hours on the bus one way. ;)
You should look for places on "oikotie" or try get your employer to co-sign (työsuhdeasunto). Studios are aways a bit pricey, but you can sometimes find good locations. And long-term is what I'd say here is no-term, no end date on the contract. (read the law there up somewhere to see your rights & so forth)

Ok, then how much is normally the rental amount if it were to be near Espoo and Helsinki? Is it in the range of 400 to 500 erous per month?
I checked with CityHotel, Privatel, Dominrental, they are charging about 30 to 60 euros per day.

Whats the most economical place but still quite near like at the most 40min bus ride?

Thanks

That'd be more or less like it. Now look at the map. And then the scale..."Espoo" is a big place in area so you need to define *where* there. There are pricey areas and cheap areas. If you manage to get a decent bus/train connection then going further away is not that bad. On the other hand you can live "next door" but if all buses go the wrong direction it won't help much the proximity. If you are still looking around the 300 mearsk Kilo for example or even "Espoon keskus", a.k.a the centre of nowhere will offer cheap a commodation. (providing you are not imagining finding furnished apartments, which, if exist run for about 2-3x regular rates). Then again Leppävaara or that area have some decent prices on the edge. Wat I would suggest for you to do is ask the company HR duepartment/person to find you something. Organizing anything not being here nor understanding the market can make people rip their hair off easily.

Thanks for your response Hank.

I guess I'll take your advice and check with my HR Department to arrange for the accomodation.

I'll be having a hard time finding a place that I don't have the slightest idea where.

Thanks again
