I am hereby requesting some clarification regarding unemployment policies in Finland.
Here is some background regarding my situation. I was working in a finnish company from 2001 to 2003. I was also a member in an unemployment fund/union. Since work contract ended in 2003, I subsequently tried to register at the unemployment office, but I couldn't and I was told that I needed to have atleast 'A' type permit. (I had B3 at that point). Since then I have not been at work in any finnish company. Now I have a permenant residence permit in Finland. If I now register at the unemployment office to find work, what kind of benefits am I entitled to? Am I eligible for earnings related unemployment compensation since I am still a member of the same unemployment fund/union? Or would I be just eligible for labour market subsidy?
Seeking clarification from this forum since it has been a constant challenge to get proper response from the authorities on questions related to this. (due to language and other issues).
