Christening

Post by megabugs20 » Fri Jun 16, 2006 7:47 pm

Hello everyone.
My family are due to attend a Lutheran christening shortly & wondered what the protocol is. Do women wear hats & cover their arms & do men wear suits or is smart casuel ( emphasise on smart ) clothing. Do we give gifts or cash? Any help would be appreciated
Many thanks

Well, depends if its in a church or at the home, but no need to dress like to the ascot. Please rest assured you'll see a wardrobe of "what was on sale" and "what was on sale last time someone had a wedding back in 1982"
Cheers, Hank W.

Hello again.
The christening we are due to attend is being held on 01/07/2006 & I wondered if you could help again. My 8yr old grandson will be with us has now asked me what time it will get dark & what time will it be light again as he has been told it will be light for almost 24 hours.
Thanks for your replies. :D

It's being held at her Grandparents house just outside of Vantaa but not sure of the exact district.

Sorry for my ignorance but isn't 8 years is too old for christening?

sunrise is 0358 and sunset is 2247 on 1st July, though it is still fairly light for a good while after sunset and before sunrise.

No apology needed.
It is a girl, my granddaughter being christened. She was born in Finland in April of this year & actually lives in Finland with her parents. She will be christened at her Finnish grandparents home on on 1st July when she will be 3months old.
I am her English grandmother (strangely enough living in England as are the rest of my family) We are coming over for the christening & one of our party travelling with us will be my 8year old grandson who still would like to know what time it will get dark & what time it will be light in the morning, don't know why he's so interested :? .
Just for the record, I also have another grandson travelling with us (brother of the 8year old) but he is only 19 months & doesn't know or care about daylight hours he's happy just eating.
