Young mothers (or soon becoming mothers) in Tampere?

Post by JenniH » Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:15 pm

Hello,

I´m completely new here, so I´ll first introduce myself.
My name is Jenni (obviously), I´m 22 years old and moved to Finland just in November 2005. My Finnish unfortunately cannot even be called basic yet, I guess, so I´m searching for English or even German speaking people in Tampere.
I just moved into this city with my boyfriend and don´t have any friends here yet. I really would like to meet someone nice (just for having fun in the city, maybe going to swim, learning Finnish and so on).
Right now I´m in 22nd pregnancy week, which means I will have my baby in the end of November, so it would be perfect to have some mothers around, who are not getting headaches immediately when a baby cries

Hallo & servus Jenni!
I'm a couple of years older than you (just turned 35) and our kids are already 2 (boy) and 4 (girl) years old, but we do live in Tampere and speak German :-)
We moved to Tampere in July 2005 from Munich area.

... and none of us would get a headache from babycry ;-)

Hei Jenni, I live the other side of Tampere from Nokia, in Kangasala & have 3 kids under 4. Tampere is an excellent place to have a baby (good hospital for birthing anyway!!!) & child friendly, ie virtually all places have baby changing & feeding chairs, it´s a bit of a pram (vaunut in Finnish) city down Hameenkatu at times! If you have any questions don´t hesitate to PM me! I am into cloth nappying, babywearing (slings etc) & other weird things like cosleeping with babies & never using bottles (tuttipullo)or pacifier (tutti)
