1. AmericanFlag Football. Meet every Thursday at 17.30h across Mäkelänkatu from the Velodrome (or about 400 m due East of Messukeskus and 200 m due North of Mäkelänrinne Uimahalli). We started meeting Aug 24th and play every week thoughout the Fall. Send an email to CURTLARSON@YAHOO.COM to get on the email list for regular updates.
2. Teams are forming and more players are needed for tournament flag football. There are at least 4 tournaments slated for the fall. Players without a team can participate on a "loose" team. This tournament is open to all players ages 16 and above.
September 23rd in Imatra.
October 1st at the Velodrome in Helsinki.
October 7 or 8 in Vaasa.
November inside in Helsinki area.
Although competitive, the emphasis is on sportsmanship and having a bit of fun. See the EFAF.de (click 'download' then 'flag football') website for the rules. Sajl.org is organizing these tournaments and their website has more details (in Finnish). Fees will be 30€ per team per tournament plus a one time registration fee per player of 7 or 32€ (depending on whether you have your own health insurance). All equipment is provided. Team size is limited to 10 players.
