I'm in a show opening next week. It's a mix of theatre, dance, and performance art, and while the text is half in finnish and half in english, we are doing two shows in English only in April. The space is tiny but the ideas are big.

Here speaks Elektra
In order to rise to a new level of humanity, please read the
instructions carefully and comply.
The corporeal tragedy of Here speaks Elektra takes place in the midst of
affluence and safety maintained by glass walls and security inspections.
It presents an ecstatic satire of freedom under the all-powerful
dictatorship of images. Dreams—of encounters with others, of health, and
of freedom from fear—mingle with the abuse of the world's poorest, the
struggle for control, and the hidden mechanisms of power. In what
situation do humans who put their hope into technology now find
themselves? What is tolerable? Can I refuse this?
Here speaks Elektra happens at the airport: a kind of non-place, where
prosperity, freedom, control, hidden violence, internationality,
technology, dreams of a unified world, and the harsh reality of
inequality become concentrated. For thousands of years humans have
dreamed of flying. What happens when flying has became commonplace for some of us?
The perfomance abuses and exploits elements of expressive mime,
performance art, media art, and monologues. Here speaks Elektra
continues the research of the Laboratorium of the Tragic Space, and its
aesthtetic is founded on the ability of the body to open up another
space, and the corporeal transposition of tragic situation and
experience.
The languages of the performance are Finnish and English except on the
11th and 28th of April when the shows are only in English.
