Anyone please help me translate this text, please!

Post by oriole85 » Tue May 01, 2007 8:58 pm

Hi,
Please help me in translating this text, I am so confused with English-Finnish translation

I am studying International Business. My majors is Logistics and International Marketing. After graduate, I want to find a job which I can apply my knowledge into. That job must be suitable with my majors. As a fresh graduate, I could be considered to apply for an assistant position. I check through many career sites for my ideal job. Normally, my job description is: processing shipping documents, checking all import/export activity reporting and invoices, filing shipment records into the information system, reporting to directly manager. I can easily meet up their general requirements. Their requirements are usually: having Bachelor degree in International Business, good communication, fluent English, knowledge in Microsoft Office. What I lack is experiences. I hope I get much during my internship period.

Thank you so much for your help.

Wouldn´t it be better if you just posted it in English? If you send it in Finnish they might have the misconception that you actually understand Finnish.

Actually, this is my task for my Finnish for Foreigners course. The course level is just for beginners, but the teacher requires a lot from us. I can make a simple text, not a complicated one like this.

OK, first: You really, really have to get that teacher change her style. It is clearly too difficult, and when things are too difficult, people learn less.

wow, thanks a lot, EP.
We try to explain her many times, but now we're exhausted. We try to overcome it as soon as possible, no matter what the grade is. :(

Maybe your source text is too complicated to express with your level of Finnish? Remember that the main point is that it's just practice - what you say doesn't *have* to be true...

A good start would be to get the English correct first..If this text above was produced by a "fluent English person" I will eat my hat!
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

We try to explain her many times, but now we're exhausted.
Well, a good way to make her understand: Just show her your own translation, and she will see what your level is, and maybe she will adjust her teaching to that.

Well, I typed the text so fast that I didn't recognize the mistake. No need to insult me like that!
And I didn't say I am a "fluent English person" because I don't live in a fluent speaking country as well

We had many kinds of this text in class before. This is just the last one for grading so I have to make it right in order to get good result. Previous texts were normally about life stuffs (a bit easier), but I don't know why she requires a lot from this.
Perhaps I will pass this experience to the next generation :)

A Finnish technology firm called Sunda has designed quite a good machine translator. The demo version only translates a maximum of 80 characters at a time, from English to Finnish.

And no, I'm not working for them.
