Finnish Recording: 34 female & 12 male voices wanted
Hi,
We're looking for Finnish native speakers whose ages are between 18~55 for the project of building Finnish voice command and speaker-independent voice solution. It takes around an hour for whole process by speaking the provided scripts. The place is located in Kallio. Each speaker would get 10 Euro for this short-term job.
Voice command for many languages have been successfully constructed, and this time we hope to launch this project involving Finnish language in order to benefit Finnish users.
Thank you for reading through the post and hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards

It's been very difficult for us, one Taiwanese and one Finnish students, to accomplish the projected conducted by a Taiwanese company, Cyberon Corporation. (http://www.cyberon.com.tw) The english demonstration for completed voice commander (flash) can found in the website.

10 euros for an hour?
Hardly covers someone's bus fare or shoe leather to get there.
You get more than that for half an hours' police identity parade and you don't even have to say anything.
Out of interest, in order that the €10 can audited as a business cost, I assume everyone's name will be taken?

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Sorry for the budget! That's why we tried to find people live near by or in center. Moreover, we want to gather people who are interested in such kind of project. At least, we actually look forward to the outcome program and hope it can really benefit users. (We both are ITs fans) That's why we decided to take this part-time project. If we knew it's so difficult to find speakers, maybe..........
Hmm you do know, don't you, that this forum is not actually bursting with Finnish (native) speakers? I trust you also have posted your ad to some other forums...Ying wrote:only five in the schedule this week...

thanks.
I know... but I actually tried to post many places but the response are much rare than expected. Those who replied our emails are usually very kind. But it's like every one person among 100 people...
We actually discussed that most Finn don't answer the door bell nor phones from unknown (there was statics in newspaper). This remind me one accident when we still lived in kruunuhaka. An old women fell in her flat by the door, and she couldn't get up by herself. I don't know how long she had been there before I found her. Since I couldn't understand what she wanted, I knocked every door in our apartment. Guess what. Nobody answered. (I wasn't aware that they usually don't answer the doors) I had to call my supervisor for translation. However, I still couldn't help her by myself because I'm not strong enough to pull her up. I went to the streets to call for help. It took a while~ until once nice lady came along with me. Most response I got at that time --- why not call the police. (That old women doesn't want the police involved!!!)

Well, if it was in the day most people would be at work. If you are home, of course you don't answer the door for unannounced visitors. Statistically it can only be the tv-licence inspector, jehovas witness, or some stupid foreigner begging money. If its old people, they are afraid of robbers on top - or don't hear the doorbell.
Old ladies - Finnish people in general, but old ladies have it concentrated into them "do not want help/involved/trouble anyone/see a doctor/go to the hospital". Logically, all their friends are perfectly healthy, never see a doctor, then all of a sudden collapse, get taken to the hospital, get diagnosed with cancer and die. See now, it is the reason taken to hospital you get a cancer and die. So that is why the old ladies don't want to get anyobe involved. Believe me, I had a grandmother
So you don't care what some old lady "wants" - you call 112 - if she'd had a broken hip or banged her head she'd needed an ambulance and you could have killed her. Or maybe caused her cancer, but anyways...
Why don't you go to a lukio - contact the Finnish teacher. Or any of the polytechnics in the centre for a bit older guys. Students always need pocket money. Or then the 1001 amateur theatre groups.

So next time I see anyone who needs help... maybe just call 112... Actually, I tried to ask my boyfriend if we should help her sometimes for shopping since I saw her once having problems of carrying bags. But he told this behavior is extremely weird in Finland. I
I tried to find some students but so far I don't know where to find student bulletin... I emailed to ask the student union from U. of Helsinki, but they don't me that there are not such things in the university. It'd be nice if you can tell me where to post the advertisement. thx.

Well, trying to make friends with old ladies is a tough one, but there is nothing wrong to try. If she is alone she might appreciate the effort - though the language barrier might prove quite an obstacle.Actually, I tried to ask my boyfriend if we should help her sometimes for shopping since I saw her once having problems of carrying bags. You walk inside and you see a bulletin board. A4 and thumbtacks. classical approach. Or then polytechnic ask who is viestinnänopettaja or a lukio, ask who is the äidinkielenopettaja.so far I don't know where to find student bulletin...
