GYM......
Re: GYM......
I go to the gym regularly its €50's a month. I doubt thats particularly cheap. It is a good gym though.pliu wrote:Anyone knows some "cheaper" public sports clubs or gym in Helsinki?
Are you a student?
If so, then check with your student union, they will have affiliations with gyms with memebership and sessions at a discount.
If you are working, perhaps your employer has a similar deal on a corporate rate. If not signup soem colleagues for a group rate.
If you are unemployed, then I am sure there is something for you too. There a so many unemployed here, the is surely a demand.

You can ask in Esport Center (Tapiola or Helsinki) how much you have to pay, they have various reductions. You get reductions if ...
... you're student
... the company you are working for is on their list ... up to 50% reduction
... you decide to pre-pay for a longer period (1, 6, 12 month etc.)

I can highly recommend the following, if you want a cost-effective way to get fit:
http://www.friskissvettis.fi/
Friskis och Svettis is a non-profit sports club which has about 40 hours of training per week around Helsinki. There are broadly 3 levels, in order of difficulty they are Startti, Sportti and Spurtti.
The sessions are one hour and are kind of a cross between aerobics and circuit training. There is always 15 minutes of stretching as a warm-down at the end.
Cost is about 120 EURO per year. For more information you can call into their office (open a couple of days a week) or email them.

Thanks.
There's a gym called Kondis in Lassila, not far from Konala/Valimo,
there used to be a website for the place but at least for now it seems
to have disappeared off the face of the Internet, info here anyways:
http://www.kuntoklubi.com/kondislassila.php
There's also the "Lassila Fit" studio in the same town, which seems to
be more female oriented with people flirting around in leotards and
what-not.

Thanks posseidon. I spoke to them and we are meeting up this weekend to see the location and discuss costs and stuff. Once I have the info I shall post it in this thread for future hubbers.
EDITED:
The scheme is as such:
The key card is 20 euros
Monthly payment is 42 euros, 3 months arnd 73 euros or so
If you need personal trainer to schedule the pgm for you the amt is 35 euros for 2 hours.
The gym is open from 0600 to 2300 hrs every day and cash is opened between 17 to 19 I guess Mon to Fri and Sat between 13 and 15.
The gym is very close to the bus stand and just 2 stops from Pitäjänmaki asema.
There are quite a few people working out including ladies and I saw almost all the required equipments except the tread mill...They do have a small Kiosk for energy drinks, a decent shower room and changing rooms plus they also have a solarium...
So anybody interested in using the facilities can contact them.
Thanks.
