Clarification about business registration form

Post by IE7BETA » Sun Oct 21, 2007 8:57 pm

While I tried to register my toiminimi, there comes need to fill up form :)

These are options that I need to [X]

-VAT Register
-Employer Register
-Trade Register
-Prepayment Register
-Register for bodies liable for insurance
-Tax Administration's register of tax payers.

To my understanding I must select "Tax Administration's register of tax payers" to get Business-ID, and "Trade Register" to register Business Name? (I don't understand what others are for, except VAT)

As my "business" is outside EU, VAT is not applicable, but is it worthwhile to register to "VAT Register" anyway, for some future sale coming from inside EU? Or would it be too complicated to do it later on?

Any benefit tax wise by having VAT Register? For e.g. if I am traveling from inside to outside EU or buying services/goods inside EU to support my business.

Another confusion comes as what exactly constitutes a company name. I guess each time we register a name, it costs 65 euros.

If I choose my company name as http://www.My-ABC-TMI.com and under this I have my own "brands" such as XYZ1, XYZ2, ... as offering different services under my toiminimi.

In this case, is it required to register XYZ1, XYZ2 ... (i am not worried about protecting these brands name)?

Now what comes to choosing a company name, what could be possibly forbidden? How about having name of some Finnish town? (After all there is Nokia city) Is it allowed to choose existing nouns from scientific literature?

There is also column for "translation of company names into finnish language"? How about I invent some word with no meaning in finnish and other major languages?

Hopefully someone can guide me :)

A competent book-keeper can guide you, nobody else. I have an OY, I do business only in Finland, and the first thing I did was hiring a book-keeper. Yours is more complicated even when it is Toiminimi.
