as for activities: Outdoor is pretty much limited to ( wearing reflectors at this time of the year)... Hunting, cross country/Nordic walking, cycling in this cold weather..
There re plenty of things to do in HEL area and from moring to evening..
it depends on what you want to show your guests:
From Atelje bar in Torni, to Wanha, to a walk in esplanade, to Kiasma, to Stone Church to a ride on 3T to a boat ride to Suomenlinna, to a ferry trip to Stockholm/Tallin and back or a 24hour cruise around the Baltic etc

You could take them to the Pub Quiz tonight...

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.
The topic of tourism and what-to-do-as-a-tourist-in-finland has been discussed several times... For instance :

Stockholm is a lovely city, and also Tallinn is easy to get to, cheap to get to and "different". But the weather will be grey and wet all over.adamo wrote:I m receiving a young couple! Maybe the idea of boating to Stockholm is nice.
They want to skate! Is there a good place for that?
Thanks
As for skating, most of the ice rinks have public skating time which is FREE! Just check out your local rink (times are usually posted on the internet). My local rink in Espoo has one hour free public skating every afternoon and then extra time midday Saturday and Sunday. Hiring skates might be more difficult.
I really don't think the weather matters. Some Brits have an ingrained
Eeyore- complex :
The original Eeyore is very British, embodying as he does a mixture of pessimism, stoicism, sarcasm and cynicism, all qualities common to the stereotypical British character. Moreover he expresses these attitudes in dry, deadpan humour, again typically British. In her book Watching the English, author Kate Fox lists "Eeyorishness" as a fundamental English characteristic.
but others just get on and make the most of a situation, a bit of rain never stopped me enjoying myself etc etc
Depends what your friends like. There are plenty of galleries and museums that are worth a visit (and you don't get wet). eg: Wee Gee talo in Espoo has a Dali exhibition at the moment. I think Suomenlinna is great all year round, but others find it boring all year round.....
Well if they enjoy skating on the ince cold water of the Baltic Sea!!! or the lakes around here..adamo wrote:I m receiving a young couple! Maybe the idea of boating to Stockholm is nice.

Since they re young, then a 24-hour cruise ll leave them exhausted, partying all around in a boat 12 stories high with tax free shopping and karoake, all kinds of entertainment ...
Trip to Stockholm will take 3 days.. HEL(day1 evening)-> STO(day2 morning), sightseeing, till 4pm STO(Day 2 eve)-> HEL (day 3 morning)..
