nativity scene

Post by RA » Tue Nov 27, 2007 10:50 pm

Anyone know where I could get a nativity scene from? I really miss this christmas tradition and I've been wanting to get one here for so long but have no idea where to go and look for one.

Thanks Hank, I thought about that but nope, at least last week when I went I didn't see any :(

I found one on an online store but it was 1000euros plus so ehem...

I'm thinking of making one myself, but where and how to start, unartistic as I am.

We made those at school... but heck, kitch candles of the holy family and stuff you can find by all probability in Tiimari. Probably they got creches as well if you go about and around.

This is cute, but would take longer than the holiday season to make it. I think
I'll start one after the holidays and keep the Christmas spirit going.

Huuto.net has them. Here is one example:

nativity

might try a search under "jouluseimi" for example.

You could order one from Kirkon Ulkomaanapu (FinnChurchAid)

http://verkkokauppa.planeetta.net/epage ... 9977777777

for the benefit of indegenous artesans in an remote village in Northern Argentina.

Pipe-cleaners, Karen? Wow. They still exist in this smokefree world? Aren't they a collectors' item on eBay? (spoken like a man who has just been outbid in the last minute of an auction on something HE REALLY WANTED BADLY).

Next you'll be telling me you mark the details of the faces with a fountain pen.

Here's an alternative solution (if that is you can't take a pick-up to the nearest church and simply nick theirs).

Thanks for all the suggestions. I made ours.. well sort of. Did the stable but the figures are from Schleich. The pic taken last week doesn't show the animals we put in yesterday, a cow, a goat, a lamb... only the donkey is missing.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Aarikka's version of the nativity....

http://www.aarikka.fi/en.php?k=8297

minimalist in all but the price!

My dad made our stable and the figures came from Carrefour in France but we lost Joseph in a move, so Mary has been a single mum for the last few years, and will be until we find a new SO who is approx the right size.
