So if you think that you have it hard... imagine landing here 1969, and then whine with perspective

Didn't know if it would be better under culture and cuisine or kielikoulu, but Hardwick is one of the fathers of Finnish tv comedy who started here in the 1970's.

I think you're correct, kalmisto, I doubt he knows all the grammar rules, he just speaks.
As said before, IMO the key is to learn Finnish grammar for 6-18 months, then just try to speak, listen, and speak again. Then do that for 4+ years and you're there!
English is a language that can be learned with only very basic grammar, whereas in Finnish you need fairly good grammar before you can break an unknown word down into it's basic form so you can look it up in a dictionary.
I really admire Neil, Roman, Keke, etc, they are "true integrators"!

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

He actually started with an "English course for kids" programme...
I think Sammy, Cowboy and EP can answer:
"Hello, hello, hello. Where is the cat?"
Dunno about perfect - natives don't know the grammar rules - his pronunciation is better than my famu and fafa anyways... Maybe he is a cunning linguist.

Yup, I knew that thanks.
In fact for the reason that it was such an effing obvious answer to anyone who knows a Finn who has learned English in a Finnish school (probably 90% of this forum?), I decided to have my cat "in a tree".
