OK, so now I need MORE help! :)

Post by rauginta_kojine » Mon Jan 07, 2008 6:58 pm

yessss....

So guys now help me... I am in a big trouble :)

So the trouble isss that I have to start preparing for entrance exams in Sibelius Academy and I dont have a piano at home. Today I went to the music shop and asked for help. They told me that they can rent me a second-hand piano. The rent price for a month varies from 40euro a month. Thats quite a good idea, but.... After 1.5 month we are moving to another appartment, and piano transferring (first time from a shop to our home) costs 85 euro! (thats quite much for me). Now if we are moving to another appartment, we need another transferring... so at last it will be 85x2 = 170 euro only for transferring. And as I dont earn millions, do you know any exceptions? Maybe there are other companies who can transfer a piano for a smaller price?
I mean, the first time I will pay 85 euro (because shop is transferring), but the second time (i dont tell the shop im moving out) , if I find, I can use another way of transferring.
So if anyone can help me, please help!!! :)

Thanks in advance!

That 85 euros is cheap for transferring a piano.

If I wasn't working odd hours you'd be welcome to annoy my neighbours. I got my sisters piano as a furniture, but it would need a tuning.
Cheers, Hank W.

oookaaayyy... if 85 isnt that much, so then I have to afford it, I dont have another choice...
And as for your piano - actually I am not interested in visiting other appartments and play there..because its kinda uncomfortable, the best way is to have it at home. :P :D

If the piano was electrical (the rented one from a shop) and not a so big like classical ones, could I (and some other persons) bring it to the van when moving to another appartment or do I MUST to call the shop for transferring for the same price again?
The question is about if I could do what with a van, can I trust a van?

Not computing. Piano is a huge thing weighing 300 kilos made out of wood and metal and elephant parts. You cannot lift it without 2 specialist gorillas... are you a DDR womens shotput team member you can carry one? I can hardly even lift one side of mine...

You didnt understand me. I am not talking about lifting the huge piano to a van. I was talking about electrical ones, they are not so huge (half smaller) and not as heavy as the huge ones are. I can show you an example : http://ana.lcs.mit.edu/~jnc//jpg/piano.jpg

Now then?

I wouldn't move the thing without the permission of the music shop.

I mean what if it got broken somehow? I suppose your insurance would pay for it, but it would not be a nice way to find out.

Oh, and 85 seems a bit much to move a small piano like that across town... Can't you find a friend with a station wagon or van or something?

Thats why I asked you for help. I dont have many friends here. And I am sure friends I have dont have any car, van or wagon .. You know, I can rent a van (probably we will be doing that because of the some furnitures), but I am not sure if its safe to transfer an electrical piano in the same van too...

now then
Thats not a "piano" thats a church camp organ

Moving something like that is a piece of caca (unless I'm driving with a deadline with an old hiace in this weather )

And the 85 is for the day rent of the van.

BTW... moving pianos when it's below zero outside is bad news.... they might need tuning again. Better avoided (or so we were told when we bought ours).

I overheard a conversation in a coffee bar a few weeks back when two girls were discussing this subject (I had nothing else to do so I listened in... ) but anyway.... the one who had obviously been here a while was telling the newbie to get herself an electrical (?electronic) piano. Some of them are pretty good (apparently) and they have proper keys so the touch sensation (or whatever it's called) is pretty close to the real thing. At least good enough for practising.

Just my 2 cents worth.

No, this is shop van. The transfer of a piano costs 85 euro per one time.
As for van renting, I heard it is possible to rent a van for 40euro for 2hours ;) so this is not a problem.

Tomorrow I will go to the shop again (for final agreement) and will see if they have some cheap electrical pianos to rent. As for the minus temperature and transferring costs it is the best option for me. Its a pity I have no money for affording to buy one from a shop. By they way, today is my birthday and I really would agree if someone could buy me an electrical piano :D

How rude!

Wouldn't it be simpler to wait til you're moving to your new place to then rent the piano?

No , I cant wait for so long. I need to start practicing as soon as possible. Piano is not a such a simple thing like others might think. I have to learn 10 new pices, each of them have to last for 5 min! 50 min excellent playing is not so simple. If I rent the piano only from March, so there are only 2 months left for practicing. And the concurse in Sib.Academy is very big every year...

Sorry for rudeness to that guy, but sometimes I get very angry when people laugh at me with things like that. Gash, Im going to play for 50 mins in entrance exam and he is advising me some crap like that.
