I guess you could start with Maija Laine's catering, quite commonly used a caterer, I understand (our student organisation is going to be using her services in march).

Seems that our beloved city also rents out the old buildings (namely Brinkkala mansion) near the Turku cathedral. We've had some student parties in the "Brinkkala cellars" (to my knowledge, a separate part), rather hazardous if and when heavily intoxicated and trying to stumble one's way out the stone steps, not for disabled. But definitely worth checking out. (The English version doesn't show the rent information in much detail

You could also check Turkuhalli ice hockey arena

And finally, if you want something really, really non-traditional you could go with Image :ochesey:

Yeah, Kakola is not actually in use anymore, as the prisoners have been moved to a new facility on the outskirts of Turku just a few months ago. Kinda nice since I live just ~300m away from it :D

There's still a huge debate going on as to what to do with the prison. I'd rather see it as a museum, as kakola has held the most infamous criminals in Finland 8) Some people have suggested that the prison should be renovated and sold as flats, some suggest that the whole Kakola Hill should be used to make way for new flats (yay, The Turku Disease has not been cured as of yet) and the wildest suggestion I've heard is that the area should be used for creating a theme park :ochesey: :ochesey:

I visited this place a week ago, 45 minutes drive from Turku. It's really beautiful, great surroundings. They do weddings and all kinds of special occasions.
