cheap books in English

Post by raumagal » Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:06 pm

I saw today at Kirjatori they have a bunch of books in English for 2 euros.
If you want some inexpensive reading material might be worth going in and checking it out:
Kirjatori

Saw some of the same books in Suomalainen kirjakauppa on sale for 8 euros.

Do they have a list of those books on sale? Cause I can't see any.. I'd be interested to order by post.
Suomalainen kirjakauppa has some classical english books at 2,50 euro also. It might not be the same, though.

I don't think they have a list but I can tell you some of the authors I remember:

Dan Brown
Dean Koontz
Jillian Hoffman
Barbara Madel
Danielle Steele
Peter Robinson
Mary Higgins Clark
John Grisham
Mark Billingham
Ingrid Hill
Eliot Pattison
Karin Fossum
J-C Grange
Stella Rimington
Bryan Burrough
Ana Menendez

They had mostly thriller/police/detective bestseller type books in Turku but they had a few other kinds too (Michael Moore type fast food book, book about Berlusconi, craft books, classics etc). They probably have other titles in other stores too. The "classics" they had aren't the same as the ones that were a couple euros in Suomalainen.

A-haaa.. I'm not too great fan of best sellers, but the idea is that I saw the same books in Suomalainen Kirjakauppa (as far as I remember ..and i don't have a good memory), but I don't know the prices. You might be right, Kirjatori might be cheaper. Too bad that I cannot order online.

If you have a visa electron or a credit card, there's also http://www.bookdepository.co.uk - they are most of the time cheaper than Amazon and deliver for free!

Wow, blaugrau! That's nice. I used to surf adlibris.com, but the shipping costs were too high.. so i gave it up. As soon as I will have a CC, i will order from bookdepository.. :) Kiva!

Both Book Depository and Adlibris are great and I have ordered from both. I read a lot so I always order a ton of books online. I love Adlibris and the shipping is only 2,90 per shipment. Usually even with the shipping it's cheaper than Book Depository. btw, they are having a book sale (lots of books for 3,90) and have free shipping right now.

Booky.fi has free shipping all the time and competitive prices.

When I ordered from adlibris, i had to pay the shipping tax and some other fee i didn't understand. It was more than 4 months ago, so I can't really remember, but to the cost of the book i had to pay extra 5 or 7 euros. ( shipping + that fee i am talking about )

I don't know what that is. I haven't had any problems and never had to pay anything except the 2,90 for shipping. I've used adlibris many times.

I had a quick look and the only extra charges I saw there on the site were for "postiennakko" (if you pay at the post office) for 3 euros or if a bill isn't paid on time they send a charge of 5 euros if they have to remind you.
