Car on ferry to Estonia

Post by Rosamunda » Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:45 am

Is Viking Line the only ferry taking car+passengers to Tallinn in winter?

I have booked a spa for ski week but now I have to get the family over there somehow.

Thanks raamv.... The car packages are not bookable on-line so you have to call the office. The recorded message says "Press 1 for information in Finnish; Press 2 for information in English". So I pressed 2 (why not?) and then got a muffled "mo-ment, please", music, then someone who sounded like they were on the other side of the planet and no, they didn't speak a word of English. Argh!!!!

Hank.... why is Eckerö more expensive???

Viking (Rosella) do a package for 77€ (one way, up to 5 passengers in a car but ours exceeds the 1.8m, so need van rate?).
Eckerö is 107€ (one way, five passengers).... in fact it's 135 € one way for our "van" (incl passengers). Is the food better, or what?

Can't work out Silja, complicated..... but looks like 65 € each way plus passengers 30 € each way + 3€ booking fee each -50% for children and 15% discount for passengers in a car (approx 170€???). Or something like that. ie: even more than Viking and Eckerö. Superfast has an early departure so I would like to go for that one, but it's a bit expensive.

Yeah... I copped out. Was too busy to spend all morning on the phone... I think my Finnish is probably better then her English which tells you just how bad her English was. Surprising for a travel company. Maybe I should move my own business to Estonia..... :lightbulb:
