Buying a Keg

Post by mridang » Fri Feb 01, 2008 2:46 pm

Hi,

Is it possible to get buy a Keg of beer in Finland. I don't think the Alko retails it. I was having a big party, a really big one and i figured it would be more fun/cheaper to get a few kegs. When i say big party i mean about a 150 people. :p

I've been saving up for this one of a kind wild birthday party of mine and the last chunk thats missing is the darn keg. :) Any help? A lotta seasoned drinkers in this forum - I'm sure someone would know.

Thanks in advance...

You dont buy it you rent the keg and the gas bottle and the pipes etc..
You only buy the beer.
But where from???
Phone Hartwells and ask...
I have done this at exhibitions but I rented the kit from the exhibition catering company (Amica) and paid them for the beer consumed...

Hi Sinikettu,

You're right. Its was stupid of me to say 'buy the darn keg'. I should've realized that all kegs are registered and they're also sent for refilling. I'll call Hartwall (or should i call that Sinebrekoff company).
How about mini-kegs? Do you know where you can buy those? Last i heard, mini-kegs (5ltr) are for retail purposes.

Thanks though..

They have had some cheap rotgut in LIDL in those mini-kegs...

My advice is get a station wagon, go to Estonia, and visit the supermarket.

Those are a rip off, the price per litre is double the price in cans or bottles.

I contacted Hartwall and they told me get in touch with this firm called CoolPint Oy. Then i contacted CoolPint to ask for the charges as i couldn't find any prices on thier website (http://www.coolpint.fi). After a few days of waiting, I got the prices from them - expensive :p

- Dry-20 beercooler for one product - rent per weekend 100.00€
- CO2-bottle - price 26.20€
- Keg of beer , 30l , f.ex. Karhu III - price per keg 98.50€
- Transportation - to and fro 20.00€

Note: Prices incl. VAT 22%.

I gave up. Bought a !"#¤% of 24 packs then.

hmm... that works out at... if you pour correct 1/2 litres correctly at

1 keg - 4.07 euros per glass
2 keg - 2.86 euros per glass
3 keg - 2.45 euros per glass
4 keg - 2.25 euros per glass :beer_yum:
5 keg - 2.12 euros per glass :beer_yum:

Now you say that you have about 150 guests, so lets say they drink 4 glasses each (easy) then the cost would be 1.88 euros per glass. but you would need 10 kegs. Cheaper than a pub.
+ a lot of plastic glasses or some mug to wash them

So maybe the 24 pack idea is your best bet
