Hi everyone
I hope someone here can help or point me in the right direction. I have been offered an opportunity to study for a 2 year masters in Denmark. The only issue standing in the way of the move is a debt I have with the Finnish ulosotto ( Debt collectors ) My intention is to graduate and return to Finland.
What powers, or what agreements exist betwwen Finland-Denmark in relation to recovery of debts? Is there an agreement on the garnishment of wages for example?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Google "yhteiseurooppalainen sopimus"
The answer is basically YES but it does depend the original creditor.

Good point rxonbladholm, advice taken. But it doesnt answer my question.
Re: Cross-border enforcement of debt accrued in Finland
Long story short, back in '99 I had some outstanding debt to a bank in the UK. They contacted a Finnish ulosotto agency and started claiming money. I made the arrangements with the Finnish company and paid it off (actually turned out to be cheaper that way, since the interest did not accrue anymore...
)

Get in there...
