Government Wisdom part III - unemployed police.

I think I've mentioned a small catch-22 with nurses and the "shortage" of workers. Well, the Finnish police isn't much better off. There is a "shortage" or... dunno... brains? A total of 69 students will take the Diploma in Police Studies at the Police College of Finland in Tampere at the end of February, while only six of them will have jobs available. Even these jobs are based on fixed-term work contracts.

No wonder they're so eager to catch you with a radar - they're envious for everyone having a job

Over the period from 2006 to 2007, the number of all crimes grew by almost 7% in Finland. Moreover, the number of Finnish police officers in proportion to the population is already now lower than that in the other Nordic countries. The national goal is becoming the safest country in Europe by 2014

Yeah, right.    So yes, next time you go make a complaint you were punched in the taxi queue or someone nicks your tires from the attic and they don't really care to deal with you or getting some document renewed takes ages... now you know exactly why I am so cynical of the "worth" of making a fuss over "nothing". They have all the rapists, murderers and candymen to chase not to mention dope (noticed the amount of drugs seized lately?) So yes, unfortunately the neighbors granny calling you a ninja or a gluesniffer relieving your bike to redistribute wealth isn't on the top priority list even if its always a personal tragedy.

Suggested action => whine, complain and petition at the 200 idiots on the hill against making such highly intelligent budget cuts.

Cheers, Hank W.
