If its muddy, Can I drive it?Re: Goats Milk?
We have always given our dog piimä, the breeder recommended this. We just add a small amount of piimä to her food (dry food with water). You can buy talouspiimä in Prisma (cheaper) or in Lidl. Don't use the HYLA stuff or the fat-free stuff, get the regular kind.
BTW, I have never seen goats' milk here.

Re: Goats Milk?
How old are your puppies? Usually goats' milk is only given to puppies whose mother has died. When they're weaned off the mother, water is recommended.
Re: Goats Milk?
Same as us. Just a little mixed with the dry food.penelope wrote:We have always given our dog piimä, the breeder recommended this.
Re: Goats Milk?
Pups are just a little over 8weeks old. they drink water. i only want ot give them more goats milk as they have ben on it all their life at home and it is good for them and their development. I have given them some viili on a recommendation. they are happy with anything really i just want to keep their calcium input up while they are growing. also i find goats milk much better than cow for myself. for example coffee with goats milk does not upset my stomach like as cow juice does. It seems od its so hard to find when it in all supermarkets at home

Try calling up the individual goat farmers in your area. For example, this one seems to sell the stuff directly out of their farm.Muddy Zuk wrote:It seems od its so hard to find when it in all supermarkets at home

Re: Goats Milk?
If cows' milk upsets your stomach then you could be lactose intolerant. Have you tried HYLA products instead?
Re: Goats Milk?
I guess i am ok with Cow Juice as i drink it straight quite happily and with cereal, it just seems to be coffee with milk that sometimes makes me feel icky?!?!
What is Piimä? i guess i get some of that today.

It is fermented milk (sour milk) and you'll find it with the milk products in a similar one litre carton. I think a one litre carton keeps my dog happy for at least a week. I usually buy it from Lidl (not the Valio brand) or the talouspiimä from Prisma (they hide it on the top shelf, 'cos it's cheap, therefore you have to look for it)

Re: Goats Milk?
ah ok, someone mentioned that in the store the other day ((sour milk) but as it ws from cow milk i thought it not a good idea. Any idea why this is ok for dogs when normal milk is not?

I have no idea. But it is OK also for hedgehogs, while non-fermented milk is not. Just one of those things people usually know, but don´t necessarily now why.Any idea why this is ok for dogs when normal milk is not?
Re: Goats Milk?
Yes weird. But our "flatti" seems to do fine on it. No digestive problems, nice and trim, glossy coat and she obviously loves it. Just don't be too heavy handed, because they don't need much.
Re: Goats Milk?
well i bought some today, its Ingman AB-Piimä 2.5% ? hope this is the right stuff they just had the last tub of Viili they seem to lap that up a plenty! not sure its ever going to give them a glossy coat but then they are wirey haired Scottish deerhounds so not usually glossy
Thanks for all the help guys and gals. i shall no doubt be on here a litle more lately pestering about puppy stuff.
