Driving School

I've been through some of the websites for driving schools listed on http://www.autokoululiitto.fi but
most of them seem to be quite shy about advertising their rates online. I'm looking for the
cheapest rates possible in Helsinki for a B license where it's possible to get some instruction in
English (at least the theory). Can anyone recommend one they've been to or heard of? Any
horror stories?

One other thing - is it possible for someone in Finland with a full driving license to give lessons
to an unlicensed driver without holding an instructors drivers licesense if they are not charging
for instruction?

Cheers!

Of course its possible - anything is possible, like getting fined for driving without a valid licence, suspension of getting a licence for one year, and then releasing wilfully a car to an unlicenced driver which I guess racks up a few day fines.

You need to have your picture test done, the person in the car must have the instructor lisence, and the car needs to have inspected training equipment.

I was aware of the one in Hakaniemi but just wanted a heads-up on others anyone might recommend
before I go asking them about prices. I guess the €1300 euro range is the best I could possibly hope for?

I don't know whether this is possible... but in theory you could take lessons/test in Tallinn???? Probably cheaper. Maybe there is a weekend crash course  or something similar.... just guessing. The student who tutors my kids for maths took his lessons/test in Hungary (his parents were living there at the time), MUCH cheaper than Finland!
