hi all
i was wondering what finnish people usually do on valentines day. As i heard the translation means 'friends day' if im not wrong. So you spend the night with your fiends, or with your best half, or ist just another day...?
valentines day
Re: valentines day
Valentine's is not really "the same" here at all... as you said, it's "friend's day" - a fairly recent thing, an invention from the late 80's I think. I don't think it's actually celebrated in any way, the main objective just seems to be to send out as many cards as possible. Or email attachments with fluffy and furry animals in them
Even the Finnish Wikipedia page describes it as "the second most popular card-sending day after Christmas". But as said I can't think of any other traditions or customs connected with it...
